Prof. Dr. Nguyen Le Minh
About the Speaker
Prof. Nguyen Le Minh is a Professor at the School of Information Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), where he heads Nguyen Lab, a research group focused on machine learning and natural language understanding. He served as Director of the JAIST Explainable AI Center from 2020 to 2024 and was a visiting scholar at Imperial College London from 2025 to 2026.
His main research directions include large language models (LLMs), natural language processing, explainable AI (XAI), Legal AI, and methods for optimizing LLM inference performance. His group has earned notable international recognition, including the SAC Highlights Award at ACL 2025 for SPECTRA, the SAC Highlights Award at ACL 2026 for UNISPEC, an outstanding paper award at JSAI 2026, and repeated top placements at COLIEE, the international competition on Legal AI.
Prof. Nguyen Le Minh is an Action Editor of the Transactions of the Association for Computational Linguistics (TACL) and an editorial board member of the journals Natural Language Processing and Artificial Intelligence and Law. He is also a Steering Committee member of JURISIN – the International Workshop on Juris-informatics, an international research association on juris-informatics in Japan.
